Deloitte-Ful

These was the Deloitte offices trapped in a time capsule of Feb 2011. I got to witness what 3.5 year old bananas, coffees, salads looked like, as no one really came back in to remove it all. It was funny reading meeting notes, agendas, planners from Feb 2011, looking at such "old fashioned" non touch screen devices!

A little ramble on the history of this condemned beauty, no actually long story short: hospital too old, closed, government gave it to indigenous people they lived in it and trashed it, then the government had their little "omg not earth quake proof" stint and all the Maoris were chased out cuz these buildings were super hazardous in terms of earthquake, fire and asbestos and just general livability. But knowing the Maoris would just climb back in, the government double boarded up all windows and holes with plywood and corrugated iron, giving this beauty her scars. But the Maoris don't wanna pay to remove this mess so here it lies.

Walkabout Kaohsiung

I didn't know where to go, so I just walked the whole city till I could find what I wanted to see. 

I'd tell you about each and everyone of these buildings, but that would just ruin your imagination :) 

Hawse

A few years ago this was still a farm with dogs, horses, cows, rabbits.

Now with Auckland's housing boom (I predict bubble) hectares, acres of farmland are being sold to Asian builders that build ugly identical houses in lollipop streets. 

This house with 23 hectares of surrounding land is one of the victims, soon to be bulldozed! 

The only items still remaining from the last ever farmers who lived here.

I am so damn brave.

Clandestine Climb into a Cult College

Believe it or not, there's this whole suburb in a New Zealand town that belongs to a religious cult. Thinking society was too corrupt for their members, this cult built an entire suburb in the 1950's. Flourishing in the 60-80's this cult town has now become an ghost-ish town.

We are the first people to explore the college. Unlike most other NZ high schools, but designed like an American high school - where the cult originated from. 

First we hit the dorms, it was a boarding school due to its secluded location.

Most things were removed from the dorms, corridors were filled with mirrors, tiles and useless things

After trying 100's of windows, Tansix found one loose and here lies the main building of the college.

And we landed in the music block- which is severely infested with mold after years of no sunlight. But this place must have been grand. Came with a few recording studios, vintage vinyls and still usable music equipment. 

That mold on the floor doesn't look too great in my lungs... had to run away when I couldn't hold my breath any longer than a few lo-fi shots. (Brand of piano was Hilton & Hilton (American)) 

And while walking in pitch black, I tripped over this sad double bass lying in the corridor. 

Only rich cults can afford such luxury, standard sized indoor swimming pool... 

When was the last time the clock arms spun?

A totally American style gymnasium with bleachers and all! Note the hoops retracted on the roof. Under the plastic sheets, lie the cult's logo, members trying to protected from upcoming decay I guess. 

OMG! Under the white sheet, lay a Steinway and Sons... I wanna take it home...

Funny, the school slogan was "build now for the future" the only future it looks to be having is one of decay
